Chuong is a Patent Attorney and has over 15 years of experience in software and firmware development in real-time operating systems, communication device drivers, and telecommunication protocols. He also spent seven years in technical marketing and business development. He has worked in the areas of fault tolerant computing, data communications, telephony and broadband communications, and MPEG video compression. He was among the first engineers with Next Level Communications, purchased by Motorola, which developed the first commercial VDSL access system to deliver voice, data, and video over a single twisted pair subscriber line. He also traveled extensively throughout the Asia Pacific region to promote VDSL technology at the national telephone operating companies.
Before joining Technology, Patents & Licensing, Chuong worked at Acacia Research, performing legal research on patents issues, research on patent infringement and patent valuation. Chuong holds a B.S. from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and an M.S. from Boston University, both in Computer Science. He earned a J.D. degree from Chapman University School of Law, where he did an externship for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, and summer internship with Turner Green Afrasiabi & Arledge, and with the Public Defender’s office. Chuong is a member of the bar in the States of California and New Jersey.
