Qi Zhang, Ph.D.

Qi obtained a M.S. degree in Intellectual Property Management & Markets (IPMM) from Chicago-Kent College of Law, Illinois Institute of Technology with focus on assessing and marketing intellectual property assets, negotiating with Licensor/Licensee to license-in or license-out IP assets, as well as conducting IP audits and due diligence. Qi also has a Ph.D. in Circuits and Systems from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Beijing, China. While studying for his Ph.D., he also worked at the University of Hong Kong, conducting wireless network structure research. He earned M.S. and B.S. degrees in Communication and Information Systems and Communication Engineering, respectively, at Xidian University, Xi’an, China.

Prior to the IPMM program at Chicago-Kent, Qi worked as a patent agent/technical specialist in a patent firm in Beijing, China for five years, prosecuting patent applications on behalf of international companies including Motorola, Freescale, Samsung, GE, 3M. He has extensive experience with reviewing patents and providing technical advice on patentability. Qi specializes in wireless/wireline networks, imaging processing, semiconductors, Internet, and consumer electronics.
