Patent strategies for the knowledge economy

Robert Cashman

Robert Z. Cashman is a Patent Attorney licensed to practice in New York and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He earned his undergraduate degree from Binghamton University (B.A. 1999), and subsequently earned his law degree from Touro Law School (J.D. 2006).

Rob was a Patent Attorney for Cardinal Intellectual Property where he examined patents on behalf of the International Search Authority (ISA) where the applicant was attempting to secure patent protection offshore through the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT). Here, Rob performed validity searches where he found art which rendered each patent claim obvious and unenforceable, and his opinion letters were used by USPTO examiners to reject patents in the chemical arts (including coatings for drugs), synthetic organic arts (including new drugs affecting the central nervous system), the mechanical arts (including pumps of various types and valves), and in business method patents of varied kinds.
