Thomas Onka specializes in mechanical, electrical and computer technologies. He earned his undergraduate degree in Mathematics from Bucknell University (B.S.) and subsequently worked as a member of the technical staff at AT&T Bell Laboratories. He earned a degree in Computer Science from Stevens Institute of Technology (M.S.). He earned his law degree from Rutgers School of Law (J.D.).
Tom was a patent examiner for the U. S. Patent and Trademark Office from 1994 to 1996. In that capacity, he examined applications in the field of speech signal processing, primarily those applications related to speech recognition and voice verification. Upon leaving the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, he worked as an associate with the New York law firm of Fitzpatrick, Cella, Harper & Scinto, prosecuting patent applications in the electrical field.
Tom became an associate attorney with Woodbridge & Associates in 1997 and returned to the firm after working two years at Johnson & Johnson Personal Products in Skillman, NJ. While at Johnson & Johnson, Tom prosecuted patent applications, trained inventors in fundamentals of intellectual property matters, and worked with both in-house and outside counsel on freedom to operate opinions, European oppositions and patent infringement matters.
